How I Prep for a Gentle Reset Weekend

There’s something magical about giving yourself permission to slow down. I’ve learned over the years—especially being a massage therapist and esthetician—that we can’t pour from an empty cup. My reset weekends aren’t elaborate spa retreats (though sometimes I pretend they are!). They’re cozy, calming, and intentionally slow.

Here’s how I gently prepare:

🌿 1. Clear My Space, Gently
I don’t go on a deep cleaning spree. I just do a quick tidy-up—make the bed, clear off the bathroom counter, fluff the pillows. A fresh space feels like an exhale.

Tip: I’ll sometimes diffuse a grounding blend—something woodsy or warm with a little citrus—to set the vibe. I’m currently loving this diffuser.

🫖 2. Choose a Tea for the Weekend
I pick one tea to sip throughout the weekend—like a little ritual. Usually something calming or skin-loving, like a rose or chamomile blend. I prep a carafe or set it beside the kettle to make it easy.

🍵 Cozy Pairing: My go-to lately has been a floral tea with manuka honey stirred in. Glowy skin and a happy gut? Yes please.

📚 3. Gather My Weekend Comforts
Books, a journal, maybe a cozy robe… I gather it all into a little nook so I don’t have to go looking for things. I might even print out a few affirmations or jot down a loose intention.

🛁 4. Create a Gentle Spa Moment
Whether it’s a full bath or just a steamy shower with a face mask, I make sure there’s one little spa moment. Sometimes I’ll dry brush, use my gua sha, or do a honey mask while listening to soft music.

🐝 Try this: My favorite honey mask is a skin-saver on these slow weekends.

📵 5. Set Boundaries with My Phone
Not a full digital detox—but I do move my phone to another room. I might even delete a few apps temporarily or put on Do Not Disturb. I let friends and family know I’m having a low-key weekend if needed.

🧡 Final Thoughts
These weekends help me come back to myself. They’re not about fixing anything—they’re about resting, resetting, and remembering what I need. If your body is asking for stillness, I hope this inspires you to create a little cocoon of calm for yourself too.
