Bee Baby Ready: A Glowy Skincare Ritual for TTC, Pregnancy & Beyond
Whether youâre preparing to grow your family or already on the journey, itâs easy to feel like your favorite skincare treatments are suddenly âoff limits.â But hereâs the good news: you can still glowânaturally, safely, and joyfully.
As someone who lives in the world of facials and wellness, I know how much we all crave that radiant, rested look. And even though I love things like LED therapy and Botox, there are things to be aware of before TTC.
Hereâs the gentle skincare ritual to follow insteadâsafe for TTC, pregnancy, and breastfeeding, and focused on making you feel nurtured from the inside out.
đź Pre-TTC Glow (Before Baby Prep Begins)
This is your time to soak up the treatments you wonât want to use once youâre actively trying or pregnant:
LED light therapy (like Celluma) â especially red and near-infrared for collagen support
Gentle dermaplaning â smooths skin and helps products absorb better
Brightening serums â vitamin C, niacinamide, and licorice root are safe and effective
Facial massage â using a gua sha or your hands to boost circulation and lift
Deep hydration masks â look for honey, hyaluronic acid, or oat-based formulas
𫧠Think of this time as a skincare send-offâenjoy it while you can! You can still use retinol
â Skip This Before Trying for Baby:
Retinol and retinoids â While theyâre amazing for fine lines and acne, theyâre not safe during pregnancy and should be avoided once you start TTC.
If you're using one now, talk to your provider and switch to bakuchiol or niacinamide for a safer alternative with similar benefits.
đ During TTC + Pregnancy: Gentle & Glowy
Personally, once I start trying for a baby- Iâll be scaling back and focusing on nourishment over correction. Hereâs my plan:
Facial massage
Still so powerfulâand so grounding. A little gua sha and a calming oil can do wonders.Hydration is key
Hyaluronic acid, barrier creams, and pregnancy-safe facial mists are my go-to.Honey masks & cooling gels
These give a soft glow, help with redness, and feel like a spa hug.Enzyme-based exfoliation (skip harsh acids)
Pumpkin or papaya enzymes can give you that fresh skin feel without risk.SPF every day
Pregnancy can cause melasma, so mineral sunscreen is a must.
đ You might be more sensitive during this time! Let your skin guide you.
đ Bee Well Self-Care Touches
To keep my nervous system supported (and because I know stress shows up on my face), Iâll also be:
Drinking magnesium tea before bed
Stretching before sleep, especially after work
Snuggling June, my little dachshund, every chance I get
Staying hydrated with my Stanley cup and fruit-infused water
Reading instead of scrollingâmy new favorite wind-down ritual
Pregnancy-safe skincare doesnât mean boring skincare. Itâs a chance to slow down, connect with your body, and treat yourself like someone very special (because you are!) Whether you're TTC now or just planning ahead like me, I hope this guide gives you permission to glow gently, on your terms.
