Skincare Shifts: How I Transition My Routine from Spring to Summer

Skincare Shifts: How I Transition My Routine from Spring to Summer

Seasonal shifts are more than just a wardrobe change—they’re also a cue to check in with your skin. Spring brings renewal, but summer adds heat, sun, sweat, and more time outdoors. That means it’s time to adjust your products to protect, balance, and glow through it all.

Here’s how I make the switch:

💦 1. Swap Heavy Creams for Lightweight Moisturizers
In spring, my skin loves richer creams to combat lingering winter dryness. But by summer, that same cream can feel too heavy. I switch to a gel-based or lightweight lotion that hydrates without clogging.

Try This: This lightweight moisturizer feels like a drink of water for your skin but sinks in quickly.

🌞 2. Boost SPF & Reapply Often
I wear SPF year-round, but in summer I’m more mindful about reapplication. I keep a mineral SPF in my bag or opt for a tinted SPF that doubles as makeup.

Tip: Powder SPF is great for touch-ups—especially over makeup.

🧼 3. Cleanse Gently but Thoroughly
Sunscreen, sweat, and outdoor pollution mean I double cleanse more often in summer. I keep it gentle—first an oil-based cleanser, then a hydrating one.

Cleansing tip: Avoid harsh scrubs! Use a gentle enzyme exfoliant once or twice a week instead.

🍓 4. Add in Antioxidants
With more sun comes more free radicals. I use a vitamin C serum in the morning to brighten and protect. It’s like a shield for your skin.

* Antioxidants = your summer skin’s best friend.

🌿 5. Don’t Forget the Body!
We focus so much on the face, but summer is for showing skin. I switch to a lighter body lotion and use exfoliating gloves or a dry brush to keep my arms and legs glowing.

Favorite: A honey-based body scrub 1–2x a week keeps things soft and polished.

🧡 Final Thoughts
Seasonal skincare isn’t about buying a whole new routine—it’s about tuning in. What does your skin need right now? Listen closely, and let your summer skincare be light, joyful, and nourishing.
